Dementia has stages. Caregiving does too.
Right now, we’re in the mind-numbing repetitive stage.

There’s the music.
First it was Glen Campbell over and over, all day and night, for weeks on end
then James Taylor & Carol King, Doris Day.
We’ve done Michael Bublé and Tony Bennett,
k.d. lang and Rodriguez,
Frank & Dean and the Mamas & the Papas.
I know all the words. To all the songs.
I can name that tune, and that tune, and that tune in one note.
Lyrics invade my brain even when the music is not on.

When it's late in the evening
All the music seeping through

Paul Simon is not the only thing on repeat
